LENT WITH CSA: Week Five
SOCIAL JUSTICE FOLLOW-UP
We had a wonderful response for Faith & Fellowship last Sunday - 25 people!
Social Justice is hard & this is our first intro to it in recent years. SO I want to offer a follow-up discussion.
I have scheduled Stern Center Rm. 408 for both THIS M & T April 11 & 12, 6:30-7:30 PM.
I want to give you an overarching sense of the church's position & respond to some of the many important issues which Sal raised last week... economy, immigration, charity giving, unions and wages, and there is so much more. I hope this will be a discussion time to further clarify and ponder this essential topic.
ALL are welcome to these discussions! Offered two nights…to accommodate differing schedules.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
Join us for our final semester holy hour with the Daughters of St. Paul
THIS Th April 14, 7 – 8 PM
Daughters of St. Paul bookstore (King & Beaufain) rear entrance
A most appropriate way to prepare for final projects & exams!
Come & bring a friend during Lent – open to faiths!

Preparing to Hear Today’s Scripture (Burgundy book in pew Word & Song 2011, page 128)
“With the Lord there is mercy and fullness of redemption!”
Today we hear John’s culminating image of Jesus… as the bearer of life. Surrounded by his friends Mary and Martha, Jesus mourns the death of Lazarus. But now, all that John has been preparing us to see in Jesus becomes visible. Relationship with Jesus will not end… it will transcend the grave. The glory of God cannot be stopped… even by death. This openness to Jesus which we saw in both the Samaritan woman and the blind beggar is once again present in Mary and Martha. And once again it does not fail. Lazarus walks out of the tomb…alive!  The hope of their Jewish ancestors as heard in the prophetic words of Ezekiel is sure! “I will put my spirit in you that you may live… I have promised, and I will do it, says the Lord.” Easter is almost here. Do we believe in the power of Jesus? Do we believe that God’s promise is trustworthy? John says that there is only one way to know. In the words of St. Paul: allow Christ to dwell in you!

Looking ahead… Holy Week begins with our celebration of Palm Sunday, next week April 17, 5 PM.
I know that you get no respite from your classes, but I really encourage you to come to the three holiest days of the Catholic year: Holy Thursday evening. Good Friday afternoon,
and either Easter Vigil Saturday night or Easter Day Sunday morning.
This means making Holy Week different… intentionally changing pattern for the week.
It is a window into our spirituality, graced by our God. All we need to do is come!
Next week’s bulletin will contain all schedules and times for the downtown churches.

Daughters of St. Paul need a volunteer very soon!
The lady who has been leading the JClub Live! for little kids is moving. The sisters need a volunteer willing to share moments of faith with God’s precious little children through songs, prayers, and stories. .. once a week in the mornings (it has been Thursdays, 9:30-10 AM – but schedule can change with volunteer). Interested?...Stop by and talk with the sisters!

CAMPUS MINISTRY NEEDS TO HEAR FROM YOU!

After Mass next Sunday the old and new leadership teams will be meeting to begin planning for the Fall Semester. We invite all of you with your ideas to come. We have a strong weekly presence at Mass and good variety at our activities. Yet we know that there are hundreds of Catholics on campus whom we are not touching. We would like to double interaction and involve many more in whatever spiritual ways we can on this campus. This means getting ideas from different people. That’s YOU! Would you come and share with the team after Sunday Mass next week? FREE FOOD, too!

THANKS to all who made the CHARI-TEA fundraiser for the Daughters of St. Paul such a success!
This hard work is appreciated!
Thanks to all who came & supported the Daughters’ cause!

We are here at Mass at the invitation of Jesus Christ. We come together to share a meal for which He is the gracious Host. Therefore, we need to make every effort to arrive on time, and to stay until the last story of the evening is told or sung. If we are to be the Body of Christ as the Church, get to know each other. Say hello to a
new face before leaving.  Jesus meets us in each person we encounter.
