NO MASS AT 5 PM on EASTER – See you for MASS at 5 PM MAY 1

Today’s Mass begins with the blessing of palm.

Take these blessed  palms home as a church sacramental!

as well as requesting God’s blessings into your future.
Families & friends are welcome! I encourage you to attend!

TONIGHT after Mass
CSA Leadership Team Meeting – Planning for 2011-12
We invite all of you with your ideas to come. We have a strong weekly presence at Mass and good variety at our activities. Yet we know that there are hundreds of Catholics on campus whom we are not touching. We would like to double interaction and involve many more in whatever spiritual ways we can on this campus. This means getting ideas from different people. That’s YOU! Please stay and share with the team… FREE FOOD, too!

Preparing to Hear Today’s Scripture (Burgundy book in pew Word & Song 2011, page 131)
“My God, My God, Why have you abandoned me?”
Today we proclaim the entire Passion narrative of St. Matthew. It is located on page135 of the Word & Song 2011 books. You need to share books with each other. PEOPLE will respond with the parts marked CHORUS.
Through Jesus’ passion and death he empties himself of life… giving all for the people. He truly is God’s faithful Suffering Servant and Son of God. Listen closely in Matthew as Jesus sheds his blood for the many… that means all of us for all times. This is the sacrifice of love which ultimately shows God’s covenant is eternal. It is what the Hebrews had hoped for many, many generations. Now through the Paschal Mystery of Jesus this covenant will abide with humanity forever! Matthew had a remarkable star show us Jesus’ birth. Now Matthew has a remarkable cosmic quake show us not only judgment, but also the opportunity for new life, even for Gentile onlookers. Through his suffering cup of life the new heavens and new earth are gifts to us. So, in this sadness we are called to celebrate!

HOLY WEEK 2011
>Reminder: Good Friday is a prescribed day of fast and meat abstinence in the Catholic Church.

I know that you get no respite from classes, but I really encourage us to come to the three holiest days of the Catholic year: Holy Thursday evening. Good Friday afternoon, and either Easter Vigil Saturday night or Easter Day Sunday morning. This means making Holy Week different… intentionally changing pattern for the week.  It is a window into our spirituality, graced by our God. All we need to do is come!

Three important notes:

> CofC students: college policy states that (if needed to attend service) Good Friday is considered excused absence – please talk with instructor!
> Easter Sunday Mass is with St. Pat Parish in the morning – NO 5 PM Mass on Easter Sunday !!!!!!!!
> Come to the Easter Vigil at Sacred Heart and support our RCIA candidate Courtney Rutland who will be received into full communion with the Catholic Church, sharing in Confirmation & First Eucharist!
